The best teacher I have ever had, incredibly helpful when you don't understand something and will do as much as he can to help you understand. Makes learning enjoyable, and his approach to chemistry and teaching is one of the main reasons I have pursued Pharmacology at uni.
Fantastic teacher. Taught me for GCSE and A-Level - definitely one of the reasons I chose a degree in Chemistry!
Very passionate, tough but fair
As stated, has very obvious bias towards pupils which can result in a lot of people disliking him; something he should work on. However I thought he was a good teacher and I would say his teaching is part of the reason I study chemistry at university.
He is strict but if you are able to look beyond this Malcom cares incredibly about his students and works extremely hard behind-the-scenes to support them (my reflection as an ex-pupil with the benefit of a few years growing up) - loves his subject almost as much as Charlton, but most importantly is passionate about helping pupils develop and not simply learn the textbook.
Got on extremely well with him, excellent teacher! Will be a shame when he retires, keep on his good side and no trouble at all.
Great teacher cos he realises he isn't as bright as many of his pupils :-)
OK if he likes you, otherwise no chance even if you do make an effort.
amazing teacher altho blows his stack after not doing much
Note much intellectual horsepower... but a great teacher
Avid Charlton fan and teaches me at the moment. Great teacher and you really learn a lot (even if your not one of the brightest). Like previous firm but fair
Taught me 16 years ago still remember him shouting at me! Firey but mostly ok.
I wasn't the best of students, granted, and probably was not one of Mr. Balster's favourites, but none the less he was a very good teacher.
shame the lab coat didn't sell very well, balster memorabilia could scare a lot of people :P
He ROCKS and would be the best teacher ever... IF I wasn't SOOOOOOO scared of him ;)
