He's a legend. Brill musician . So sad he's gone
JR is probably the biggest legend I have ever had the fortune of meeting. Such a guy. Sad his is now gone :'(
He's a good guy, but dosn't teach you anything until GCSE level. Whe you get there, he picks up the pace quite a bit, and he's an amazing musician. Though he once sabotaged a preformance in our class.
works hard for those who take music seriously...genius and wish i had half his talent.. really dead on and down to earth!! legend of bgs!!!
Simply, school would not be worth coming to without his his classes.
Ok maybe we dont do much in class but to all the mucisians he is inspirational and an absolute legend! He also does so much for our band that he doesnt have time for people who dont care about music.
LOVE HIM!!! Went to conor house and was in the orcristra and he wished there was 1000 of me :D love him and miss him loads wouldn ever change him!! xxx
genius! get away wit quite abit to in his classes, rake around all year and yet sumhow he gets you an A, brilliant. how can that teaching method be wrong.
This man, although not the most consistent teacher in the world, makes up for this tenfold by his sheer musicality. Fantastic especially anything to do with the keyboard and improvisation.
A bit more work throughout the year would be required for me to give JR all 5's in this. He is a fantastic teacher when he teaches, although if he was a bit clearer than saying 'dum de dum dum daaa da dum' when explaining how to improve your composition, it would be good. Just a project every 2 months is all that I would probably deem necessary. But beyond that, top in his class!!!
hes lazy we never do anthything in his class , though he is funny
bad teacher!!! great dead on guy and puts on a hell of a concert.....very grumpy when it comes to being in the music room at break and lunch!
His teaching skills are not great, but when it comes to concerts, he is fantastic.
best tearch in the hole bleedin school he is the best because he dosent do any work hahaha and we do home work in his class the guy is the best teacher you could have he is a real legand
he is such a legend, in concert band he is brilliant, and for everyone who doens#t like him, they obviously hate music!
come on, give him some bloody credit, he is so amazing and fair enough he is a bit lazy but he's prbably the coolest teacher in the school, and this isn't coming from a musician, i'm in junior school and i think he is a legend!okay, so the choir may be put down a bit but thats the period you look forward to, not english or drama, music! a legend and has made bgs a brilliant school!
Somehow he manages to get 2 years worth of work done in the space of a few days each year!!! For EVERYTHING. That includes concerts, GCSEs, AS levels and A2 levels. For the rest of the year he motivates people by fixing up his web site on his laptop, or he buys songs off iTunes. And it's actually the trombones who should receive the praise concerning the concert band. I mean, who starts the Stripper?!! THE TROMBONES!! Need I say more?!!
absolute legend! gr8 teacher if u r musical which rrli is his job! not lazy at all!all he dos is work away at his laptop! amazin conducter nd brings life 2 da music dept. nd concert band!!!! if i had 1/4 of his talent i would well happy! AMAZIN MUSICIAN!!! yeehaa!!!! lol
well if you actualy did gcse or as/a level music you would see how good he is. to the person that said about Ian Hunter being ashamedif he came back.....he does come into music from time to time...and if you dont play an intrument and have no intent to why would you complain about getting to sit and do nothing in his class? music is diff to other subjects like english and his role as HOD is harder with the concerts and charity work to do, where as english wot maths what extra do you there excellent teacher
brilliant!!probly the most talented person ive ever met!and everyone in the school should be grateful for him being there!instead of slagging him of!just take a look at the results he gets!abrsm results and a levels etc. the old boys who think they now about the music department havent a clue!!did they even go to the 2006spring concert?!it was one of the best in years probly better than whenever they were here
I wish i had half his talent, who cares if he doesn't teach disinterested juniors. His genius is wasted in this school
Absoluetly amazin musician....who can accompany u on piano for a grade 8 piece and eat donut at the same time, whilst reading the calorie count on a can of (diet) coke.....?...Jonnie Rea certainly can!!...he's a legend and a great laugh, but my God is he a waster.....altho he does somehow, be it mainly by shouting, manage 5o pull all the concerts together and create an amazing performance, altho its probably due to the 1st trumpet section...they're great!!
He's cool he just lets us lounge about all the time and is a good teacher
brill guy! takes music very seriously and is great for a chat as well. very easy to get along with and an exceptional musician/conductor.
Awful teacher, but then of course that's not his field. One of the most charming, intelligent, witty and talented people I have ever met. And a good friend.
I get on well with this guy. He shows genuine passion and ability for his subject Far betr musician than Miss Cannon! The band's great and his effort with thats 2nd to none! Other musical groups feel that they are somewhat neglected and only rehearse comin up2 a musical event. This atmosphere of "do somethin easy 2pull it off" does not give the pupils any sense of achievement. If the whole yr was spent rehearsing good, difficult stuff, nt only wld it snd btr on the nite it wld giv the pupils satisfaction
you don't do anything in his classes just sit around and talk
Ok, so his teaching is a little unorthadox...and sometimes just ISNT at all...but the music dept is far more than that to BGS. In JR you have a head of dept who is a friend to any musician. He takes away the scarey teacher pupil thing and lets you enjoy your music. THe charity work and public performances under him have been 2nd to none. Look outside the class room. If you want a teacher type in the music dept you can kiss goodbye the best part of it, and 1 of the most consistent public fronts of BGS.
IH (ex HoD) would be ashamed at standards now. Ian may have been a bit sarcastic and bad tempered at times, but he brought the best out of everyone and everyone liked him. He made such an effort with his pupils o cover work. (unlike his successor). His choral efforts were second to none and rehearsal never stopped. (Gryphon is now legendary). It is such a pity that this work has been undone, by sheer laziness. However, efforts are currently being made to resurect the choir.Letshope its not another in vain!
absolute legent. will help anyone anytime... as long as you're 6th year!!! lol
Very intelligent at music! very talented! really dead on and cares for his pupils!
like his predecessor, avoids anyone who believes that their future lies outside the realm of music - holds far too much influence for what his subject is
Only cares if your good at music, doesn't take an interest if your not. Sits around and talks on the phone most of the period, fair enough.
he talks to you as if he was your good friend, very talented guy(in music) most dead on teacher in the school
