Mr Gormley taught me maths over 10 years ago at Castle and was a brilliant teacher. He gave me confidence which i didn't have in myself and I went from a middle-level student to an A* GCSE under his encouragement and simple explanations of at first seemingly complex maths. He was by far one the best teachers I have ever had.
I saw this site and thought the concept of publicly rating teachers was a little distasteful. However the feeling "credit where credit is due" prevailed. Mr Gormley was the perfect balance of firm, but fair. He had a great sense of humour, but made it clear from the start that he wasn't a force to be reckoned with. He maintained a clear sight of one’s potential, even when they doubted their own capabilities. I just wish there were more teachers like him.
Very helpful. very stupid. very funny. very wrong. very odd. do not treat this man with respect. Dean Parkinson
