Mr Bird for me was a great headteacher he turned kingsmead school around in such a short time from a bad school to something we can all appreciate i was at kingsmead in the early 90s up until 99, and he was a fair and caring man, and would certainly tell you if you are out of line but for me a great man

i think he was the worst headteacher he never asked us for our ideas our new headteacher asks us he didnt :@

He had a very business mind and ran his school like a business. But beneath the hard exterior was a caring man, a good teacher and a devoted head master.
