Although pickwick clearly knows his physics and is a really nice person and makes me laugh all the time he does struggle to control the class and has failed to teach us anything at all really just talks about himself and the physics he is intrested in rather than the specification but I still love him
Excellent and very good at explaining physics in an intuitive way.
Has lots of knowledge but doesn't know how to share it.
If you actually listen to him, he can come up with some gems of knowledge. Really quite brilliantly brilliant.
Mr Pickwick is very knowledgeable and often teaches fascinating lessons however his lessons are often only loosely based on the syllabus but i do find that his instruction often helps to inspire
fails to teach the syllabus, whole lessons go by without a single piece of relevant information, wittering on about things we have no use for :/
goes off the point often, does not teach the syllabus, and managed to get my brother from an A* at Gcse to a C in A-level.
If you want to learn physics rather than how to pass an A-Level then probably the best teacher in the department. If you just want to be tought how to pass the exam to put on your UCAS university application, then not best.
I am absolutely SHOCKED that this guy has got such a low rating. He is probably the most intelligent teacher I have come across in my time at MGS, and is also a FANTASTIC physics teacher in my opinion. 5 5 5 from me Alan!
Absolute legned hands down. At the start of lessons he opens his 'persents' from Amazon or Ebay, usually a book about his new Audi or some sort of telescope for lookngi at the Sun. Great guy comes out with some great lines
An absoloute legend. Some people who have no interest in Physics question his ability as a teacher but I've always thought hes better than my previous Physics teacher(s), and he also has some really cool stories to tell you
His teaching methods might be a little 'old hat', but the stuff he tells you is increbibly interesting and great for conversation, if not entirely useful for exams.
Great guy. Can be sharp and unapproachable in a humourous sort of way. Don't try and learn physics in his lessons though.
a legend!! if you're good at physics he'll be grerat if not you're in trouble. A top guy but can (very) easily get distracted + not v.strict, both factors leading to my D at alevel.
He taught me for 3 years in the nineties. Gets a bad press because of his unorthodox style but overall he's a good teacher. He won't force disinterested students to perform. Some of the anecdotes are awful, some are legendary
dude this guy is hilarious, u wanna know about anything at all....ask Alan! Maybe not the best teacher if u wanna learn physics tho but still a living legend
My Brothers form tutor in his last year. Booooooorrrrriiiiinnnnnggg gets sidetracked very easily
